Emanuela Musso


Emanuela Musso is enrolled with the Bar Council of Palermo and she deals with Criminal Law and Human Rights.

In 2013, she graduated in Law at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, with a specialization in International Law and a focus on criminology and forensics sciences. Subsequently, she enhanced her education by attending an LLM at the Maastricht University in The Netherlands, achieving the title of “Masters of Laws” in International Public Law-specialization in Human Rights.

She worked in a criminal law firm in Palermo as apprentice attorney and further, she completed an internship at the UNDP internal office of audit and investigations in New York City, where she improved, amongst others, her defence investigations skills. During her professional life, she also worked as legal researcher for the UN Committee for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, performing monitoring activities. 

She is currently involved in the human rights field by working for several NGOs and, at the same time, she focuses her professional activity on Italian criminal law, with particular attention on the violation of rights internationally guaranteed. Her activity covers any kind of offence, such as those against the person (murder, affray, personal injury, sexual abuse, workplace harassment, stalking, etc.), against the property (theft, robbery, extortion, fraud, money laundry, etc.) and against the Public Administration (corruption, bribery, abuse of office, embezzlement, etc.). In particular, she is specialized in the safeguard of victims of crime, children and other vulnerable persons. She also deals with cases concerning the rights of detainees, due process, extraditions and expulsions.

Furthermore, she provides legal assistance within the immigration field and the international protection, focusing on asylum seekers, refugees, and victims of human trafficking, torture or discrimination. She assists in filing petitions before the European Court of Human Rights and other international and regional systems.

Additionally, due to her overall experience, she may perform consultancy activity with regard to corporate governance and codes of conduct (focusing on the aspects of international law protecting human rights and the environment), and international private law.

Emanuela Musso is Italian mother tongue, she speaks English and Spanish fluency, and knows French.
